Kamala Harris is set to appear onstage with Joe Biden at their first official joint rally in Pennsylvania, as her campaign accused Donald Trump of “dodging labor on Labor Day.”
The vice president is appearing in person in both Michigan and Pennsylvania on Monday, and has deployed several surrogates – including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff – to make remarks across battleground states on her behalf.
Her appearance with Biden at the Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh marks the first time they have shared a speaking slot on the political stage since the president stepped off the Democratic ticket in July.
They will be joined by local and national union leaders as well as Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro.
In contrast, the Trump campaign has limited its Labor Day campaign to a single virtual event. In a statement posted to Truth Social the former president boasted about his own achievements for workers during his time in office and claimed all Americans were “suffering” under the current administration.
“Donald Trump is ditching workers on Labor Day because he is an anti-worker, anti-union extremist who will sell out working families for his billionaire donors if he takes power,” Harris campaign spokesperson Joseph Costello said in a statement.
Joe Biden addresses voters in Pittsburgh
Joe Biden was met with chants of “thank you Joe!” as he began his remarks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“I’ve celebrated many labor days at Pittsburgh. It’s always good to be back with so many great friends,” the president told them. “Let me just say, it means so much to be with true friend, Vice President and the next great president of the United States of America.”

Harris campaign addresses Trump’s remark that he had ‘every right’ to interfere with 2020 election
The Harris campaign has responded to Donald Trump’s recent, and brazen claim that he had “every right” to interfere with the 2020 presidential election.
“Everything Donald Trump has promised on the campaign trail – from ‘terminating’ the Constitution, to imprisoning his political opponents and promising to rule as a dictator on ‘day one’ – makes it clear that he believes he is above the law,” Harris-Walz 2024 Spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said.
“Now, Trump is claiming he had ‘every right’ to interfere in the 2020 election. He did not.
“While Donald Trump is pushing his false history about the past, the American people are ready for a new way forward. They know Vice President Harris is the tough-as-nails prosecutor we need to turn the page on chaos, fear, and division, and uphold the rule of law.”
Trump made the remarks on Sunday during an interview with Fox News, despite facing a slew of legal challenges, including a fresh indictment from Special Counsel Jack Smith over the former president’s election subversion case.
Last night in an interview with Fox News’ Mark Levin, Donald Trump admitted to interfering with the 2020 presidential election and claimed he had “every right” to do it.
“Whoever heard you get indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it, you get indicted and your poll numbers go up,” the former president said.
